MinistryCrossroads: Where Novelist, Web Designer, and Songwriter meet for a Multimedia Experience
As if writing a novel isn’t enough, many writers are working to find new and creative ways to present the essence of their storyworld to their readers. Interacting on web pages is one way their readers can experience a savoring flavor of characters and the interesting, if not compelling, plots of their novels.
Kathryn Mackel has been creating storyworlds for almost two decades. Her junior fiction books have sparked the imagination of many children and adults alike. But creativity is a never-ending process. And the hunt for fresh ideas in sharing a novel is never limited to the local library. Now, Ms. Mackel has branched out to the adult audience and can share her imaginative storyworlds through her website.
Designer Bill McGonagle, of Web-ination.com, is a science fiction fan. Growing up reading C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein, Bill has continued his journey into unknown realms. Sharing the love of web design and fiction, Bill’s newest project is helping author Kathryn Mackel find her presence in the online community of readers. Moving segments of screen, character diaries, and interactive interviews characterize the site project that is in the works for Kathy’s readership. What fun!
Also, as you watch the fluid motion of flash on the screen, you can listen to music composed specifically for the characters. Imagine being the frustrated young woman out on a mission and encountering insurmountable circumstances. You hear her wrestling words as she calls out to God with a questioning faith. Hear a song that will guide you and one of the main characters through a deadly web of poisonous flowers and murderous spikes designed to stop invasions into the strong hold. What about the song that speaks of the captured heart that leads a young man into the very hands of danger? I have worked with Kathryn on several book projects and have enjoyed this latest adventure in sharing a multimedia mix of story, music, and interactive play. Please stay tuned.
The launching of Kathryn’s site is in the near future. Further information is available at our websites. You are welcome to join us and partake of this ministry that not only seeks to glorify the work of Jesus Christ, but also desires to entertain future generations.
